Making Personas Memorable

What's the big deal about personas? UX teams across the industry use them. Jim believes that making them compelling and memorable can increase their success. Ultimately, as the industry knows, persona- based design helps increase  product relevance and customer delight.

Jim's teams have produced personas and related artifacts that have increased the fun and stickiness of personas. This in turn increased teams' use of personas, which facilitated products that solved real user problems.

In some contexts, research shows higher recognition and memorability with action figures than stock photography. Why? They were fun! If teams can get creative and create for instance cardboard persona pop-ups, it can stimulate even greater interest.

Cross-company business councils have recognized Jim's teams for excellence in creating these personas to drive great design.

At first blush, action figures can seem impersonal. However, research showed that in certain contexts, increasing fun promotes stickiness, or product team recollection of personas and their attributes.
